Craig D. Foster
DIRECTOR | WRITER
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Award-winning Short Films
Craig’s short films have screened worldwide at dozens of festivals, nabbed multiple awards and have been viewed millions of times.
His werewolf horror/comedy Overtime opened the 2016 St Kilda Film Festival to the rapturous applause and laughter of 3000 stylishly-dressed Melbournians and moved on to rock Palm Springs, Fantasia, Fantastic Fest and many others. It won Best of Fest and Outstanding Direction at Spookfest, Best Comedy at Vivid Freshflix and two “Special Mention” awards (they’re the best kind you know) at Fantastic Fest and Celluloid Screams.
Award-winning Screenplays
Overtime was nominated for an Australian Writer’s Guild (AWG) Award for its outstanding screenplay. This was Craig’s second AWG honour having co-authored the short claustrophobic action/thriller script Trunk that took home the ‘Monte Miller’ Award for Best Unproduced Short Screenplay in 2013.
Craig is presently writing feature screenplays including a feature adaptation of Overtime.
Content Creator
Craig also works in advertising and content. He spearheaded and directed a social engagement campaign about climate action called Time for the Talk and directed a campaign for a local legal firm featuring Paul “Chief” Harragon.
…proving that Craig can sell anything from existential dread to professional litigation services.
Assistant Director
Craig is also a skilled Assistant Director with over 15 years of experience in TV, Commercials, Indie Features and Short Films.

Background
Craig studied Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of New South Wales and in his spare time became deeply involved in the campus theatre and “revue” scene where his love of the arts and filmmaking flourished. He directed the 2004 CSE Revue, a variety comedy stage show and made dozens of silly sketch videos using MiniDV cameras in the pre-YouTube era.
Craig graduated with honours and worked for a time as a software engineer, but decided to pursue the more creatively fulfilling and financially stable #lol_jk career of his dreams in film when the GFC and the introduction of the iPhone wreaked havoc on his former employer.
Craig is Western Sydney born & bred; the offspring of a working-class family. In a vain attempt to raise his social standing he moved to the latté-swilling Eastern Suburbs for 13 years. But truthfully, he could never have stayed away from his authentic salt-of-the-earth roots #sydneyhouseprices and moved back to the burbs with his new family in 2017.
